Already have a city in mind?
Shortlist it, check accommodation for your actual dates and work out whether the places you need are reachable without a car.

You don’t need a year-long itinerary. Start with where you’ll land, somewhere to sleep and a realistic idea of when you’ll need to work.
Start with your first stop ↓01 / PICK A STARTING POINT
Choose somewhere that makes your first few weeks easier. A cheap flight is only part of the cost: look at your first bed, the journey from the airport and how you’ll get around once you’re there.

Explore destinationsStart with your arrival month and how long you want to stay. Our harvest finder compares regional crop seasons and shows farms you can contact.
Find a harvest for your datesBefore you book: compare the whole first week, not just the flight. A late arrival can mean another transport cost or a difficult check-in.

02 / CHOOSE YOUR PACE
Work backwards from how long you can cover your expenses without earning. Leave room for applications, course dates and a first payday that might come later than you hoped.
Book a short first stay, explore the area and get your essentials organised. Give yourself a date to review your spending and start applying, rather than waiting until money feels tight.
Plan your first weekCompare jobs before paying for training. Check what the work involves, which requirements apply and whether employers can use the experience you already have.
Find work that suits youMatch your dates to crop seasons, compare regions and shortlist employers. Then ask each farm about its actual start date, hours, accommodation and transport.
Try the harvest finderGoing straight to a farm can make sense when the arrangements are clear. A seasonal calendar or an application form isn’t a job offer—confirm the work and where you’ll stay before travelling there.
03 / GIVE YOURSELF A BASE
Choose your first accommodation for an easy landing. You can look for a longer stay after you’ve seen the area and know where you’ll be working.
04 / FIGURE OUT TRANSPORT
Let the trip decide. You might manage your first city stop without one, then reconsider when you have a road trip or a particular farm in mind.
Check public transport against your accommodation and likely shift times. A route that works at lunchtime might not work for an early start or late finish.
Ask how you’ll reach the worksite every day. A lift from the bus station is different from transport for every shift. Check charges and what happens on days off.
If you decide to buy, budget beyond the purchase price: inspection, registration or transfer costs, insurance, fuel, repairs and somewhere to park. Check the rules for the state where you buy before committing.
Look for farms with stated transport arrangementsCompare car-free travel, buying, renting and intercity journeys
05 / READY TO GO
A small set of confirmed arrangements is more useful than a packed itinerary.
