Gold pins: saved places. Green pins: previews and suggestions. Blue numbered markers match the table; tap one for its name. Dashed purple links show a gap between the routed road and a place, not a walking path. Nearby pins group together; tap a numbered group to zoom in. Saving does not change directions.
Unpowered coastal camping for tents, camper trailers and smaller campervans; not caravans. Summer minimum stays apply.
Getting there: Use the operator’s road directions and pitch dimensions. Bring drinking water and check vehicle suitability.
Unpowered riverside camping. Pitch types differ; some accept caravans and others are tents only.
Getting there: Access roads are narrow and unsealed. The bridge has a 5-tonne limit; vehicles over 2.5m high are not recommended on the eastern approach. Check the operator’s full access notice.
The map focuses on the Cape Otway–Johanna section, not every campground between Torquay and Warrnambool. Use it to choose an overnight base for this part of the drive.

Can you book just one night in summer?
Not at Blanket Bay or Johanna during the published peak blocks. Their 2026–27 rules require seven nights in Saturday-to-Saturday blocks from 19 December to 23 January, then three nights from 23 to 26 January. Maximum stays are also listed by the operator.
For a short roadtrip, choose dates outside those blocks or look for another campground with a suitable minimum stay. Do not build a three-night itinerary around an unavailable one-night pitch.
The operator pages link to availability and prices for your dates and setup; they do not give a single fixed nightly tariff for these four camps. Open the relevant campground below, choose your dates and check the full stay total before paying.
Some Great Ocean Road bookings moved from Parks Victoria to the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority on 1 July 2026. Use the current campground operator link. Do not assume the Parks Victoria half-price offer applies to a booking with another operator.
Our suggested order is Apollo Bay, Cape Otway and then Johanna as you continue west. Choose one campground around Cape Otway rather than packing up to move between nearby sites every day. Add your confirmed overnight stops to the route planner before deciding how much sightseeing fits.
Carry drinking water and arrive in daylight, especially with a hired van on unfamiliar unsealed roads. Check your rental agreement for road restrictions. For Aire River West, read the access notice even if a pitch is labelled caravan-suitable: getting to the pitch is a separate question.
