Campground / holiday-park all-rounder jobs in Australia

Holiday-park all-rounders help with several parts of a property rather than one fixed department. A small park may combine reception, cabin cleaning and grounds support; a larger one may split those jobs. Ask for the actual mix before applying, especially if an advert uses “caretaker” or “management couple”.

This could suit you if…

You enjoy variety, from guest service to cleaning and helping keep shared facilities in order.

The trade-offs

The job can involve bathrooms and maintenance as well as reception. Check staff accommodation and transport rather than assuming a site is included.

What does the work involve?

Welcome arrivals, explain site allocations and facilities, and update bookings or payments where reception is part of the role. Communicate room and site readiness with the cleaning team.

Clean cabins or amenities, collect rubbish and assist with straightforward grounds tasks after instruction. Report maintenance issues instead of attempting work outside your skills or authority.

Will it fit my trip?

Check grocery access and travel to the nearest town. A park described as coastal or near a major destination may still be difficult without a car.

Ask what a normal week looks like in peak and quiet periods and who covers days off. Living on site should not make your availability unlimited.

Inspect the written boundaries on maintenance work. A willingness to help does not replace training, licensing or safe equipment. Keep a reserve for another bed and onward travel if the arrangement ends.

What do I need before applying?

Read the driving, equipment and experience requirements for the individual park. A driver’s licence, towing ability or maintenance background may be useful in some positions without being universal requirements.

Clarify any after-hours responsibility and supervision. Working with children, alcohol service, pool supervision and specialised maintenance involve separate requirements if those duties are included.

Which training is worth doing?

First aid and CPR

St John offers HLTAID011 general first aid and HLTAID009 CPR through its state organisations. These include practical assessment; course delivery and fees appear in the local booking calendar.

St John Victoria: first-aid course example

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid: $199 for 4.75 hours in class plus pre-learning, or $225 for 7.75 hours in class without pre-learning. These are Victorian options; choose a listed venue and date. First aid is relevant when the role requires it, rather than a universal entry qualification.

How do I put together a good application?

Show practical examples across the tasks you can genuinely do: bookings, customer complaints, bathrooms, gardening or stock handling. Explain where you need induction rather than calling yourself skilled at every trade.

State whether you are applying alone or with another person, your dates and whether you need housing or a site for your own vehicle. Each person should understand their own paid role and hours.

What can you earn?

Caravan parks are included in Hospitality Award coverage. Basic cleaning and kitchen support are Level 1 examples; room cleaning and reception are Level 2 examples. An all-rounder’s rate follows the duties performed.

ClassificationCasual weekdaySaturdaySunday
Level 1$33.05$39.66$46.27
Level 2$33.85$40.62$47.39
Level 3$34.96$41.96$48.95

These figures apply to adults in the named Hospitality Award classifications, not every job with this title. A registered enterprise agreement or a different industry award can apply. The classification follows the actual duties.

Rates are per hour before tax and exclude super. Casual loading is already included. These are ordinary-hours minimums from 1 July 2026; overtime, public holidays and late-night additions are separate.

These full rates apply from age 20 under the Hospitality Award. Younger employees serving liquor receive the adult rate for their classification.
